Monsieur Ibrahim et les fleurs du Coran

M. Ibrahim and the Flowers of the Koran

Sunday, May 6, 2018 at 7:30 pm

“Monsieur Ibrahim et les fleurs du Coran” traveled all around the world and has been performed in thirteen countries and published in twelve languages and studied in junior highs and high schools. Famous actor Omar Sharif won a César in France and a Lion d’Or in Venice for his role in the movie adaptation directed by François Dupeyron and selected at the Golden Globes in 2004.

This time, the story is brought back to life by its very own author.

Paris in the 1960s. Thirteen-year-old Moses lives in the shadow of his less-than loving father. When he’s caught stealing from wise old shopkeeper Monsieur Ibrahim, he discovers an unlikely friend and a whole new world. Together they embark on a journey that takes them from the streets of Paris to the whirling dervishes of the Golden Crescent.

As this deeply funny and exquisitely crafted plot unravels, it reveals how we learn the most essential lessons of life and death when we expect them the least. A touching, wry and bittersweet solo-performance.

Performed in French without English subtitles.
