Le Petit Chaperon rouge
Little Red Riding Hood,
A PLAY BY JOËL POMMERAT
Friday and Saturday, March 9 and 10, 2018 at 7:30 pm
We all know the story of Little Red Riding Hood and yet … In the beautifully concise, archetypal language of fairy tales, Pommerat rewrites the steps of the most famous story, preserving its original structure while teasing out a profound rite of initiation and passage. What results is a crisp, wholly modern interpretation of a bittersweet classic. No less appropriate for adults as it is for children, this delicate story is perfect for anyone who has ever faced fear, loneliness, or the ambivalence of growing up.
Created in 2004, the play has met with resounding success ever since it began and has been staged and sold out in France and around the world … It is considered to be one of Joël Pommerat’s major work. The seriousness, the gentleness, the evocative power of Pommerat, his delicateness as well, have made this Little Red Riding Hood one of the most beautiful spectacles ever. Le petit chaperon rouge is a theatrical legend, to be seen again and again, by children and adults alike.
The play is performed in French with projected English subtitles.
Suitable for children age 8 and up.
