LA FONTAINE/BRASSENS

LFB 1 (crédit Joël Mathieu).png

Based on the fables of 17th century fabulist Jean de La Fontaine and the songs of 20th century Georges Brassens, the show is an enchanting musical play exploring the universe of two of France’s greatest wordsmiths, starring Marie-Christine Barrault and Jean-Pierre Arbon. In this show, created and interpreted by Jean-Pierre Arbon with the complicity of Marie-Christine Barrault, the fabulist and the singer dialog through time and playfully merge their voices.

The evening’s event is an 80-minute show with no intermission.

**Performance in French with English subtitles**

LYCÉE STUDENTS IN GRADES 6TH, 7TH, & 8TH WILL BE ATTENDING THE MORNING SHOW

The idea might seem unusual, and yet, when you discover La Fontaine/Brassens, composed and designed by Arbon, the blending of the two sounds obvious! Even tough three centuries apart, the fabulist and the singer from Sète display a shared passion for language, independence and a sense of levity (…). The complicity of their minds is unbelievable! Words collide and intertwine with harmony, musicality and intelligence, erasing the gap between them. One can easily imagine they would have become good friends if their paths had crossed… The poetic and musical confluence is immensely pleasing.
