Our Story

About

Theatre Raymond Kabbaz (TRK) is a 220-seat theatre that presents theater, music, dance, screenings, and youth audience programs. Our events bring diverse cultural traditions from across the globe to our stage, enriching the lives of youth, patrons, and artists in the greater Los Angeles area, and beyond. The venue is the only year-round theater in Los Angeles devoted almost exclusively to French language cultures.

TRK presents 50-60 events and serves approximately 7,500 patrons per season with educational programs catering to the school community and French language/international events serving Los Angeles County at large.

Who is Raymond Kabbaz?

Raymond Kabbaz, President and Founder of Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles, was an avid supporter of the arts and was a firm believer in its ability to enrich lives. The last three years of his life were dedicated to the construction of the theatre that would ultimately bear his name. Theatre Raymond Kabbaz opened in the year 2000, and since then it has presented over 500 events and served more than 100,000 youth and patrons.

As an important part of its mission to serve youth, the theatre also produces educational programs that serve grades K-12. The students expand their knowledge of the dramatic arts by participating in student performances. Throughout the year, TRK offers students the unique opportunity to attend award-winning performances and films selected for their artistic excellence and connection to French and Francophone cultures.

In a classroom, a teacher sits at a desk with four students sitting in front of him. The teacher is dressed in a suit and tie, and the students are in uniforms. The classroom has windows, a chalkboard, and artwork on the walls.

Mission

The mission of Theatre Raymond Kabbaz is to present French language and international cultural programming to youth, patrons, and artists in Los Angeles County and beyond.

This mission is accomplished by showing works of theater, music, dance, and film from the rich diversity of French-speaking cultures, introducing great international artists to Los Angeles County, and by teaching K-12 students the dramatic arts.

Vision

Through its programming, the TRK hopes to inspire, unite, uplift, and teach, ultimately fostering a lifelong appreciation for the arts, and enrich the lives of youth, patrons, and artists in ways that nothing else can.
