Tex-Mex meets Nashville meets France

The French rarely celebrate defeat, but for this band, we’ll make an exception. San Antonio trio The Last Bandoleros perform their brand new album entitled Tex Flex Folklórico at TRK in celebration of Cinco de Mayo! The trio lovingly refers to their unique new sound - a mix of Rock, Pop, and Latin flavor - as “Tex Flex.” The Last Bandoleros with special guests Hannah Brier (vocals), Percy Cardona (accordion), and Ramiro Belgardt (cello) perform an unforgettable Cinco de Mayo at the decidedly French Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz.

On the heels of their Stagecoach Festival appearance, The Last Bandoleros celebrate Cinco de Mayo with their special blend of Tejano and Tex-Mex songs in Spanish, English, and “Spanglish”, straight from the Texas-Mexico border!

The band perform their versions of classics such as Los Panchos’ “Sin Un Amor” as well as originals.

Straddling cultures and blending musical styles is what The Last Bandoleros are good at. Known for their energetic live performances, the eclectic country/rock group embrace their Tejano heritage as they weave in and out of English and Spanish lyrics from the stage.

Brothers in the trio, Emilio and Diego Navaira, are multi-instrumentalists and singers. They're also the sons of Emilio Navaira the Grammy-winning Tejano star. “We’re singing in Spanish and English,” Diego elaborates. “It’s what we grew up doing with my dad.”

“From a sonic standpoint you hear the instruments of our culture, which are flamenco guitars,” Jerry said. “You hear bajo sexto. You hear bass lines that are akin to cumbia.” You also hear musical embellishments to bring it into today. “And then we would throw in some electronic or modern sounds, marrying it with this sounds of our heritage,” he said.

The Last Bandoleros’ latest album Tex Flex Folklórico was released on October 28th 2023, just in time for their Día de Los Muertos commemoration and San Antonio headline show at the prestigious Tobin Center on the same day. The band performed first focus track from the album, “Vamos a Bailar”,  live on ABC’s Good Morning America.

The Last Bandoleros have been earning effusive praise for their accomplished musicianship and impressive harmonies opening for respected artists such as Sting, The Mavericks, Los Lobos, The Boss Hoss and Dwight Yoakum.
