We Love Arabs

April 20, 2023

Text & choreography: Hillel Kogan

Dancers: Mourad Bouayad (French) and Hillel Kogan (Israeli)

“We Love Arabs” brings together dance and theatre to explore coexistence, brotherhood, and peace. Witty and completely politically incorrect, Kogan’s work goes straight to the heart of national and religious identities, clichés and prejudices, and offers us a demonstration, sometimes hilarious, sometimes provocative, of the ever-present power dynamics on stage, in the wings and beyond.

Cas Public – Not Quite Midnight

November 8, 2019

Cas Public summons up the magic of Cinderella. The spectators are invited to witness the tales of the Brothers Grimm, the operas of Rossini and Prokofiev (refashioned by the composer Martin Tétreault), but also the magic of a hundred lesser-known stories that are secretly passed mouth-to-mouth, ear-to-ear. Hélène Blackburn’s choreography becomes a portal to the emotions. Compassionate yet stern, brittle yet powerful, this new production pays tribute to the qualities of heart and mind which give us the strength to overcome hardship, better ourselves and find fulfillment.

Kybele Dance Theater

October 5, 2017

The LA-based dance company, performs a show of three intriguing parts: Sonsuz, Noir and Kina that explore themes from living without regrets to life in an oppressive society. By fusing contemporary dance with Turkish imagery, Kybelle Dance Theater awakens the audience with designs that accent the forgotten moments of life. Choreographer Seda Aybay approaches movement with quick weight shifts, the use of momentum and gravity and refined versions of daily gestures. With the clean lines of classicism, the earthiness of modern dance and the gutsiness of contemporary, Aybay creates a show unlike any other.
